Formulation Evaluation

What R&D Teams Should Test in a Protein Powder System

These are qualification factors to evaluate for the selected grade. They are not guaranteed performance claims for every formulation.

Factor 01

Powder Handling

Review mesh / particle characteristics, bulk density and flow behavior under your actual handling conditions.

Factor 02

Wettability & Dispersion

Evaluate how the selected grade wets and disperses at the intended protein load, water volume and mixing method.

Factor 03

Solubility & Sedimentation

Check dissolution or suspension behavior and record visible sediment after the intended preparation period.

Factor 04

Foam & Viscosity

Observe foam generation, foam breakdown and viscosity after realistic shaking, stirring or blending.

Factor 05

Sensory

Evaluate color, odor, taste and mouthfeel in the complete flavored system, not only in water.

Factor 06

Formula Interaction

Repeat testing with sweeteners, flavors, minerals, acids and other active ingredients included in the actual finished formula.

Performance in water alone does not replace evaluation in the complete finished formulation.
Sample Testing

Evaluate the Grade Under Realistic Use Conditions

Use a representative sample to reproduce the intended user-preparation conditions before moving into commercial qualification.

Protein powder sample evaluation under realistic mixing conditions
01
Define the target protein concentration Use the protein load intended for the finished product.
02
Use the intended serving water volume Do not test only at an unrealistically dilute concentration.
03
Use the intended preparation temperature Record the actual temperature used during evaluation.
04
Use a realistic mixing method Shaker, spoon, blender or bench mixer as appropriate.
05
Record physical and sensory observations Wetting, clumping, dispersion, foam, sediment, viscosity, color, odor and mouthfeel.
06
Repeat in the complete formulation Include the real flavor system and other finished-formula ingredients.
07
Check relevant standing time Record whether performance remains acceptable after the intended user-relevant period.
Technical Documentation

Documents to Review Before Commercial Qualification

Document availability depends on the selected grade and current qualification scope. Request the latest applicable files before approval.

Product Specification

Review the current analytical and physical requirements for the grade.

Representative COA

Use representative batch results to understand how current lots are reported.

TDS / SDS

Request technical and safety documentation where available.

Source & Allergen Statements

Confirm origin, source and applicable cross-contact information for the project.

Amino-Acid Data

Request current amino-acid information if nutritional comparison is required.

BSE/TSE & Certifications

Review applicable statements and certification documents according to current scope.

Buyer FAQ

Beef Protein Isolate Formulation Questions

What protein specification does ATNUTRA Beef Protein Isolate use?

The current specification requires not less than 95% protein. A representative COA supplied for this project showed 97.12% protein on a dry basis. Current batch results should always be confirmed on the applicable COA.

What molecular-weight range is listed for the current grade?

The current COA lists a molecular-weight range of 3,000–5,000. This value is a grade-identification field and should not be used by itself to infer bioavailability, absorption speed or mixing performance.

Is ATNUTRA Beef Protein Isolate instant soluble?

Instant-solubility performance is not established by the current COA. If rapid dispersion or cold-water mixing is important, request the applicable technical data and evaluate a sample under the intended formulation conditions.

Is Beef Protein Isolate a complete protein?

The current COA does not provide a full amino-acid profile. Do not make a complete-protein or leucine comparison without reviewing current amino-acid data for the exact grade.

What should be tested before using Beef Protein Isolate in an RTM powder?

At minimum, evaluate wettability, dispersion, solubility or sedimentation, foam, viscosity, sensory and complete-formula behavior at the intended protein load and preparation conditions.

Can I request a sample before commercial qualification?

Yes. Qualified projects can request available specifications, documentation and an evaluation sample before commercial discussion.

Does ATNUTRA formulate finished protein-powder products?

ATNUTRA supplies dietary supplement ingredients and technical information for ingredient qualification. Finished-product formulation should be validated by the customer's R&D or formulation team.
